Testing Services
The Composite Panel Association is pleased to offer testing services through the International Testing and Certification Center (ITCC) in Leesburg, Virginia. Located only minutes away from CPA’s main office, the 5,500 square foot state-of-the-art facility has been engineered with tomorrow’s ultra low emitting products in mind. The three Large Chambers and accompanying conditioning room provide the capacity to operate seven days a week to service the needs of customers looking to comply with current regulations, standards and mill specifications, including the new California Air Resources Board formaldehyde emissions rule. The large chambers were designed with smaller interior volumes, permitting twenty percent smaller test samples and thereby providing freight savings for customers. The independent testing laboratory in Leesburg provides formaldehyde and physical/mechanical property testing, conformity assessment, and research testing needs of the North American particleboard (PB), medium density fiberboard (MDF) and comparable product industries. The National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) of the U.S. Commerce Department, a program administered by the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST), accredits the Leesburg laboratory operations under Lab Code 100418-0. Formaldehyde emission testing is a primary focus in the laboratory. CPA has over two decades of formaldehyde testing experience, and has earned the recognition of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), major building codes, industry, and the general public, as a reliable source of data.
The CPA 5,500 square foot laboratory facility in Leesburg, Virginia has the following testing capabilities:
- Three Large Chambers; ASTM E 1333
- Desiccator; ASTM D 5582
- Small Chamber; ASTM D 6007
- Perforator; EN 120
- NIOSH 3500; Air Sampling
- Linear Expansion Testing 50% and 80% RH Conditions
- Environmental Testing and Conditioning Room(s); Controlled for temperature, RH and formaldehyde backgrounds
- Tinius-Olsen Testing Machine (6000 lb. capacity); Mechanical Testing ASTM D 1037, ANSI A208.1, ANSI A208.2
